Joan Mitchell

1945 - 2025

Joan Brodrick Mitchell, born on May 6, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at age 80.

A resident of Elizabethtown, Joan was known for her kind-hearted nature and her deep love for her family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jackie "Jack" Mitchell, with whom she shared a loving marriage since 1966. Joan leaves behind her beloved daughters, Angela Clater (Jim E.) and Saundra Cook; along with her cherished grandchildren, Keith (Brittany), Josh (Chelsey), Kaelyn (Andrew), Dakota, Mavrick (Madison) and Kasper. Her legacy extends to her great-grandchildren, Aivery, Callen, Oakleigh, William, Jackson, Charleigh and Lucas. She also is survived by her sister, Claudia Mitchell (Danny).

Joan was preceded in death by her son, Jack Scott Mitchell; and her sisters, Joyce Scheiding and Janice Dix.

A life member of the 10281 V.F.W. Auxiliary, Joan enjoyed shopping and reading, but her true joy was found in her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Joan will be laid to rest in Kentucky Veteran Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
