John Vertrees Jr. Obituary
He was born in Upton to John Daniel Vertrees Sr. and Golda Hawk Vertrees. He was a lifelong farmer and owner and operator of Chevron Gas Station for 28 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita Brown Vertrees; his parents; and a brother, Dean Vertrees.
Survivors include two sons, Mark (Becky) Vertrees and Joe (Jennifer) Vertrees, all of Upton; a daughter, Sandy (Brian) Bell of Sonora; a sister, Suzanne Carnes of Louisville; and two brothers, Stephen (Bonnie) Beumel of Elizabethtown and Michael (Gerry) Beumel of Upton.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Manakee Funeral Home in Upton, with the Rev. Joe Hall and Brother John Smith officiating. Burial follows in Upton Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and continues from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
