John Zeitz Obituary
John was the son of Joseph and Kay Zeitz and was born in Andalusia, Alabama. He grew up in Elizabethtown before meeting the love of his life, Patricia, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
John has been a walking miracle for almost 14 years since he had a heart transplant, after fighting so hard to survive while waiting on the transplant list for years.
John Zeitz was a lover of music, good home cooking, adventure, nature, Kentucky basketball and is known for his not always so appropriate sense of humor. He is the type of person who would give anyone the shirt off his back and anyone who truly knew him knew this about him. He was the true definition of southern hospitality. He enjoyed volunteering in his community, as he was part of the Lions Club Eye Foundation for many years. He was loved by so many.
The most important thing to him was the security and happiness of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, of 41 years; his twin daughters, Egan Fisher and Kay Zeitz; his son-in-law, Brian Fisher; his grandchildren, Aura and Lennon; his beloved granddog, Boogie; his brother, Gray Zeitz; and his best friend, Lynn Byars, who has always been by his side.

John was our friend, a fellow Lion and a great leader/mentor. He and Patricia were always so gracious at any social event with the Lions of Kentucky. He beat the odds when he received his second heart because he wore out the other one doing so much for others in need. We missed him when he relocated but the South and home were calling. I will miss his unique sense of humor and he always modeled his behavior on not taking things too seriously. We will sing to him, "The Parting Glass" in his honor and memory. Slan Abhaile!

North Hardin Lions Club
January 28, 2021
Past District Governor John was an inspiration to serve with in Lionism. Our Club is deeply saddened by the news of his passing and our heartfelt condolences to Lion Patricia. He was a true friend and spirited visitor to our Club and keen to show his interest and support to our activities. One of our funniest encounters was during a guest speech visit as the District Governor to the North Hardin Lions Club and we presented him with a large German style beer stein( with Lions Logo) with a thumb controlled bicycle bell on the handle so he could use it at loud social events to get another round.
