Karen Diane Martin Phillips, 72, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.

Karen retired from civil service with more than 30 years of employment serving our troops at Fort Knox. She was a strong Christian and a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Vine Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Martin; and a brother, David Martin.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Donald Phillips of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Ashley (James) Varelan and Sara Staubs, all of Elizabethtown; two sons, John (Stacie) Childres of Vine Grove and Chris (Heather) Phillips of Rineyville; two sisters, Carolyn (Charly) Kerr of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Susan (Ron) Anderson of Darlington, South Carolina; a brother, Charles Martin of San Diego, California; nine grandchildren, Austin (Megan), Dylan, Madison, Caleb, Cole, Ashlynn, Emilee, Kimberlyn and Kamdyn; and a great-grandson, Foster.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at New Salem Baptist Church in Vine Grove with Pastor David Smith and her former pastor Gary Kasey officiating. Burial follows in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff and continues at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
