Larry Nett

Larry Nett, 79, of Elizabethtown, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, at his home.

He retired as owner of Nett & Nett Construction where he and his father, Clifford, ran a construction company for many years throughout the community. He also was the owner and operator of Nett Strawberry Farm.

Larry was a member of Northside Baptist Church and attended Southeast Christian Church, Elizabethtown Campus. He was saved at a very young age and lead his life through the church and Christ. He taught Sunday school, lead the children's ministries, youth programs, helped lead the singing and played the guitar for special music. He was a huge Christian witness to all that knew him.

He had a passion for gardening and raising tomatoes for marketing. He was affectionately known by many as "The Tomato Man." He provided tomatoes and homemade tomato juice to every breakfast at every restaurant in E'town.

Larry was known widely as an avid and animated storyteller and entertainer. He was well known for his repetitive jokes that always got a laugh. The more times he told a story, the bigger it got. He loved to fish with his friends and grandchildren, as well as teaching his grandchildren to bake the best apple pie and homemade chocolate chip cookies. He also enjoyed sitting on his patio overlooking the farm and garden while watching wildlife pillage through it.

He was a positive influence on all his children, grandchildren, family, friends and anyone that he personally came in contact with. He always tried to help those in need. He became a father figure to youth in need of guidance and direction, employing them, mentoring them and leading many to Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Geneva Ash Nett.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Nett; a son, Mark Nett (Cathy); two daughters, Vicki Schuler and Jennifer Nett (Paul); 11 grandchildren, Matt Nett (Amanda), Kristen Nett, Nathan Nett, Jake Schuler, Alexis Schuler, Emily Schuler, Lyndsay Schuler, Tyler Schuler, Celeste Hunt, Taylor Maulden and Hannah Maulden; and two great-grandchildren, Hudson Nett and Maddox Nett.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Southeast Christian Church, Elizabethtown Campus with Pastors Michael Kast and Kevin Roberts officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
