Larry Priddy Obituary

Larry Wayne Priddy, 77, of Georgrtown, passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, in his home.

He was born July 19, 1939.

Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, which his children and others that knew him well will never understand how she did it. He was quite the character and what he lacked in stature, he compensated with an overabundance of charisma, charm and feistiness. He was a model of strong-will and sheer determination to the end of his journey here on this earth. He worked hard in life to provide for his bride, Margaret Frances, and his three children, Kevin, Jody and Stacey.

He wasn't college educated, but he was most definitely common-sense educated. Things financially were difficult when his children were young, but as he just plugged along providing for us, he finally found his niche selling insurance. He won awards and fabulous trips, he was able to take his wife to England, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and other wonderful places of course, he waited to find his niche when his children were grown, so they didn't get to tag along. His children actually were thrilled and proud of what they were able to do.

He was famously opinionated or infamously, world renowned for his lack of patience, short-tempered and he despised the beach, cats and hot dogs. He loved playing poker online; it gave him such joy to win fake money. He loved preaching God's word, leading hymns with his amazing voice in worship, and he had no shame in telling it like it is.

He was generous to a fault and more courteous to strangers than he was his own family at times. He was a gentleman and there was no doubt he loved, cherished and adored his family. His Sunday afternoon naps accompanied by the loudest snoring any one human ever could produce, I can assure you will not be missed. His endless chattering of University of Louisville football and basketball won't be missed by most of our University of Kentucky cat family, but his presence and stories of his childhood growing up on Louisville Avenue and sweet grandparents that raised him will.

His best friend was his son. They loved each other to the ends of the earth and could fight like cats and dogs; they owned a motorcycle shop together and got to play all day every day for several years. Those two couldn't get enough of their heroes, the Three Stooges.

Larry Priddy's "Pap's" greatest accomplishments in life were teaching his children to love the Lord and serve Him. Although this headstrong man couldn't take orders from anyone, he had no problems serving God and his country. He would've died for his family, God or his country and that is a legacy that will comfort those who loved him.

He is survived by his son and best friend, Kevin Priddy and his wife, Tammy, and their three children, Jacob, Logan and Mason; his wonderful kind-hearted daughter, Jody Bowman and her husband, Don and her two children, Malory and Cody; his third child, meanness mixed with love, Stacey Cassady and her husband, Kevin, and their three children, Kacey, Spencer and Sydney. He also is survived by his loving and tender-hearted brother, Richard Priddy, that he loved to pieces and his wife, Sandra, and his son, Scott. He was blessed with a stepsister, Pam Brandenburg and her son, James. He also had two beautiful great-grandbabies, Macey and Maggie.

God has an amazing sense of humor in that he allowed the University of Kentucky Hospital to save his life when no one hates UK more than dear ole daddy.

He was a unique individual who will be missed by all that knew him.

A celebration of life service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Radcliff Church of Christ, 2160 S. Dixie Blvd., Radcliff, KY 40160.
