Russell Alvey Obituary
Mr. Alvey retired from Vulcan Materials, where he dedicated years of hard work and commitment. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Russell was an avid NASCAR fan, who also enjoyed watching boxing. Gardening and hunting also were some of Russell's other joys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Cora Alvey; and two brothers, Herbert Alvey Jr. and Phillip Alvey.
Mr. Alvey is survived by four children, Russell Alvey Jr., Lori Beth Alvey, Sara Elizabeth Wheatley and Nathan Foster; his longtime companion, Karen Ann Fuertsch; five grandchildren, Sage Alvey, Mydnight Allerano, Samuel Alvey, Douglas Dowell Jr. and Devin Wheatley; three great-grandchildren, Elias, Emerald and Kinsley; four siblings, Trisha, Charles, Bradley and Linda; and a host of extended family and friends.
The funeral for Mr. Alvey is at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove with Brother Ben Underhill officiating. Burial follows in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continues from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
