Vernon Ray Rose

Vernon Ray Rose, 89, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, at home.

He was a former member of Stovall United Methodist Church and was attending River of Life Church in West Point. He was a member of Camp Knox Lodge No. 919, R.A.M. James B. Wall No. 145, R. & S. M. Hocker Council No. 89, Conrad H. Cates No. 37, York Rite College, North Central Kentucky No. 116, the Royal Order of Scotland, Scottish Rite Valley of Louisville, KY, National Sojourners Chapter No. 134, Heroes of 76 No. 134, Past Master Society of Central Kentucky, Order of Eastern Star No. 839. Retired Army Master Sgt. Rose was a member of Military Order of the Purple Heart, recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a Veterans Administration volunteer for 20 years. Other memberships included NCOA, United States Capitol Historical Society and Fleet Reserve Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rose; two sons, David Rose and Danny Rose; and five siblings.

Survivors include his daughter, Darlita Smith (David); his son, Tony Meadows; six grandchildren, Kaimi Roberts (Jeremiah), Brian Basham (Jamie), Billy Rose, Sarah Maher (Alex), Megan Rose and Jessica Clark; four great-grandchildren, Tyler McKenzie, Kenzie Roberts, Devon Basham and Raylan Basham; a brother, Larry Rose; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 23, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with Pastor Tom Jefferies officiating. Burial with military honors follows in Stovall Methodist Church Cemetery in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a Masonic and Eastern Star Service at 1 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Wounded Warriors in care of the American Red Cross at Fort Knox.
