Wanda "Jane" Oberlitner

Wanda "Jane" Oberlitner, 77, of Elizabethtown, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.

She was born April 19, 1948, in Elliott County, to the late John M. and L. Evelyn Thornsberry Waggoner.

Jane pursued a master's degree at Morehead State University in her younger years. She dedicated 36½ years of her life to teaching, retiring from Fort Knox Schools.

Jane loved her family unconditionally and cherished visiting with others, never meeting a stranger. She had a passion for decorating and enjoyed gardening, particularly nurturing spring and summer flowers.

Jane also loved traveling and always was on the go.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Johnny W. Waggoner; and a brother-in-law, Jesse "Tweedy" Carroll.

Survivors include her loving husband of seven years, Larry Oberlitner; two daughters, Heather (Vince) Higdon and Sheila (Steve) Mosack; a son, John Fultz; a sister, Debbie Carroll; two grandchildren, Hunter Higdon and Bryce (Annie) Atchison; and her fur baby, Dakoda.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial follows in North Hardin Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continues at noon Thursday at the funeral home.
