Bill Langford

William V. Langford (Bill), of Blue Ridge, age 100, beloved brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Mr. Langford was born in Marietta, Georgia, May 30, 1925, to the late Mana and Clem Langford and graduated from Marietta High School in 1943.
He was drafted to serve in World War II in June and became a yeoman aboard LSM #126 in the Navy where he served in the Pacific until 1946.
He then returned to Marietta and went to work for W.P. Stephens Lumber Company and started attending night school at Georgia Tech where he obtained his bachelor's degree. In 1950, he became an engineer for Shell Oil Company where he worked for 39 years.
After living in several cities in the southeast, Bill and his family returned to Marietta in 1978 and moved to Blue Ridge in 2017.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of more than 70 years, Laura Ann Langford.
He is survived by his brother, Larry Langford (Ginny) of Duluth, Georgia; sons, Mark William Langford (Jodi) and David Nelson Langford (Mary) of Mineral Bluff; grandson, Bill Langford (Bayli) of Blue Ridge; granddaughter, Taylor Parker (Kody) of Greenville, South Carolina, and great grandchildren, Declan and Brooks Langford, and Woodlynn Parker.
Visitation will take place at Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations in Blue Ridge, Thursday, October 2, at 1 p.m. with a memorial
service to follow at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
