Brenda Lord

Mrs. Brenda Jean (Whitmore) Lord, age 70, of Morganton, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, in Blairsville, Georgia, following a brief illness.
Brenda was born September 10, 1954, in Polk County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Gerald Whitmore and the late Ethel Cantrel Whitmore.
Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Jerry Lord; brother, Roger Whitmore; sisters-in-law, Glynda Watkins and Linda Bookshire; and, brother-in-law, Larry Lord.
Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, and nana. She stood as a model of what a mother should be. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and her heart was filled with love watching each of them grow.
Brenda was a middle school teacher in the Fannin County School System for 31 years. She touched the lives of countless children throughout her years teaching. Brenda will be deeply missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter, Misty Lord Nelson; son, Matthew (Nicole) Lord; sister Geraldine "Sissy" (Gene) Mitchell; brothers, Calvin "Peanut" Whitmore, Jimmy Whitmore, and Richard Whitmore; sister-in-law, Mary Tritt; brother-in-law, Fred Watkins; grandchildren, Bearon Ray, Morgan Nelson, Mckinley Lord, and Levi Lord; godchildren, Frank Lord and Lisa (Kevin) Hughes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service was held Monday, August 25, 2025, at 1 p.m. from Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Abernathy officiating.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers; Frank Lord, Andy Crawford, Doug Crawford, Hayden Crawford, David McDaris, and Ryan McDaris.
Interment followed in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home & Crematory Blue Ridge Chapel Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
