Edith Ballew

Edith Verner Ballew, age 94, of Epworth, passed away, Thursday, April 13, 2023, in Copperhill.
She was born July 20, 1928, in Cherokee County, North Carolina to the late Leonard Allison Verner and Ethel Bell Verner.
Edith was a member of Friendship #3 Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude W. Ballew; son, Steven Ballew; and brothers, Elvin Denton, Marvin Verner, Morris Verner, and Jimmy Verner.
Edith is survived by her brothers, Hoyt Verner, Lloyd Verner, and Delton Verner; sister, Mildred Dickey; grandchild, Stephanie Jones; great-grandchildren, Chloe Andis and Kinslee Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 2 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Scott Baugh officiating.
Music was provided by Rita Rucker and Tera Queen. Interment followed in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were B.J. Chancey, Nathan Chancey, Scott Verner, Raymond Verner, Patrick Trantham, and Carl Arp Jr.
The family visited with friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
