Jerry Rice

Jerry Allen Rice, age 76, of Morganton, Georgia, passed into the presence of his Lord Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Austell, Georgia.
Jerry was born August 15, 1948, in Mineral Bluff, Georgia, to the late George Rice and Sadie Rice.
Jerry was also preceded in death by a sister, Pat Rice. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Rice; daughter, Stephanie (Jeff) Davenport; brothers, Bethel (Mary) Rice, Freddie (Judy) Rice, and brother Billy Joe (Mary) Rice; grandchildren,Tyler Rice and Kells Stephens.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his family. For many years he was the owner and operator of the Rice Lumber and Pallet Company where builders respected the materials he produced. During his school years, he was an excellent athlete and excelled in sports. A highlight and honor for Jerry was when he was inducted into the Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame having been the manager of the boys and girls basketball teams for four years at East Fannin High School. He will be missed by many. He was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior for many years sharing the Gospel message.
Funeral services were held Friday August 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Dalrymple and the Rev. Sammy Ledford Sr. officiating.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Doug Ledford, Mark Rice, Jason Ledford, Andy Rice, Issac Rice, and Ben Rice. Interment followed in the Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery, Morganton,Georgia, following the funeral service.
The family received friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Blue Ridge Chapel Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Flowers are accepted or in lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's name can be made to Midway Baptist Church Missions.
