Lloyd Panter Obituary

Mr. Lloyd Lavelle Panter, age 89, of Douglasville, previously of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away June 25, 2023, at his home after a brief illness.
Lavelle was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Margie Panter of Blue Ridge, Georgia; sisters, Edna Earle Panter, Dorothy Tarpley, Ruby Hendon, and Grace Miller; brothers, Duard Panter, Kenneth Panter, Clifford Panter, and James Panter; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.
Lavelle is survived by his sister, Wanda Jean Panter and brother, John Dale Panter of Blue Ridge, Georgia.
He was employed by Van Raolte Hoisery of Blue Ridge for several years. When the plant was closed down, he left Blue Ridge in search of employment. He began working for the Puralator Courier Service in East Point Georgia. After working there for several years, Emery Courier Service purchased Puralator. He received many awards from this company for his outstanding performance. He later retired from Emery Courier. As a result from being raised close to the railroad tracks, Lavelle became a big train buff. He knew the train times so therefore he knew what time to be up a rock cliff which rounded the bend coming from Murphy to Murphy JCT, where the "Y" was on the old L&N track. The engineers could always count on Lavelle being in that spot agging them on. No wonder he would go on to become such a big train buff that his travels would take him places such as New York, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Texas, New Orleans, Alabama, and back to Atlanta and beyond.
He lived a good life despite adversities. He had a talent of playing the piano What beautiful music he would make, despite never having a music lesson in his life. He was gifted in so many respects. His mother played the organ and his sister, Edna Earle, played the organ and piano.
Lavelle's journey has ended, and he is at his final destination. He has entered his heavenly rest- may he rest in peace.
