Bobby Joe Scroggs, 85, of Clarkesville, Georgia went to be with the Lord November 28, 2025.
Funeral services for Bobby will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025, noon at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkes-ville where he was a longtime member. The Reverends Tommy Stowe and Matthew Butler will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour at the church on Thursday.
Bobby was a native of Rabun County. He was born in Tiger, Georgia, on June 7, 1940, to the late Virgil C. and Hattie G. (McCoy) Scroggs. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by two brothers, Porter and Russell; and three sisters, Cleo, Frances, and Carolyn.
Bobby was a retired United States Air Force Veteran having served 20 years on active duty with one tour in Korea, two tours in Vietnam, and was a Purple Heart recipient. While in the military, he attended Troy State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Management, Magna Cum Laude.
After retiring from the Air Force, he spent another ten years working with the United States Postal Service where he worked his way up to Postmaster of Alma, Georgia, before returning to his beloved North Georgia mountains. In addition, he was past President of the North Georgia Arts Guild and an accomplished artist in his own right, having won numerous awards.
Survivors include his wife, Lucia A. Ramey Scroggs; daughter, Tina Carrington, and her husband, James; two sons, Robert J. and his wife, Sandy, David W. and his wife, Hanna, and their children. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Hillside Memorial Chapel and Gardens of Clarkesville is in charge of the arrangements.
