Dennis Chitwood Obituary
Born in Toccoa on June 12, 1966, he was a son of Wanda Meeks Chitwood of Baldwin and the late Dan Calloway Chitwood. Pete worked for TenCate Nicolon for over 16 years and, alongside his brother Danny, in the construction industry for many years. He was also an avid Church League softball enthusiast. Most of all, Pete's greatest blessing was supporting his children through coaching as well as their many other endeavors. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father and Poppy, loving son and brother. Pete was a member of the Line Baptist Church in Alto as well as the Mount Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F & A.M.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Donna Sue Chitwood; sister, Janice Chitwood; and mother-in-law, Linda Wade Pritchett.
Survivors include his loving wife of 39 ½ years, Tonya Pritchett Chitwood of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Nicole Chitwood of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Daren Carder of Gainesville; grandchildren, Alyssa Chitwood, Annabelle Chitwood, Briggs Chitwood, Hudson Carder, and Kohen Carder; mother, Wanda Meeks Chitwood of Baldwin; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Louvene Chitwood of Mount Airy; father-in-law, Wendell Pritchett of Carnesville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenneth McEntire and Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Masonic rites will be provided by the Mount Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F & A.M.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023.
