Commander James Peter "Jim" Kyle USN

Service was at St. Mark Catholic Church on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 11 a.m.
Commander James (Jim) Peter Kyle USN, 89, of Clarkesville, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025 surrounded by family. Jim Kyle was born to Peter and Fanny Kyle in Cambridge, Mass. He attended the University of New Hampshire, Boston University and University of Massachusetts (Amherst) before joining the U.S. Navy.
He flew in the Navy as an A-4 Pilot from 1959 to 1988 in active and reserve duty. During his Navy career, he was a test pilot, instructor, and maintenance officer. As a member of the VA-12 "Flying Ubangis" Attack Squadron, he accumulated the most nighttime carrier landings in the Navy A-4. While in the reserves he also flew for Eastern Airlines for 28 years and finishing his career as a Captain on the L-1011.
At age 23, Jim met the love of his life, Patricia, a nurse from Alpena, Michigan. Their 65-year marriage led to a very large family and countless memories. He has three surviving sons (Jim, Jeff, and Jerry) and two daughters (Kathy and Kim). His family expanded to a total of 21 grandkids. Over the course of his life, Jim and his family have moved up and down the east coast from Jacksonville to Stone Mountain to Amherst, New Hampshire. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family and a loyal friend to anyone he met.
