Joyce Higgins Obituary

Joyce Ann Nelms Higgins, 69, of Demorest, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Born on December 10, 1955, in Demorest, she was a daughter of the late Bob Nelms and Maggie Collins Nelms. Joyce enjoyed knitting and was especially fond of her dogs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Marlon Higgins.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Toby Whitfield, Shane Whitfield (Olivia), Jamie Higgins (Cookie), and Jessie Higgins (Melissa); 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren (one on the way); brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Nelms (Sharon), Robby Nelms (Peggy), and David Collins; sisters, Debbie Smith and Janice Nelms; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and McEntire. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.

McGahee-Griffin and McEntire Funeral Home of Cornelia is in charge of arrangements.
