Friends and family of Lewis Clark Jackson, Sr., we his children, Clark, Julie, Tommy and Michael, announce his peaceful passing, age 94 years, at home in Sautee Nacoochee, on October 29, 2025.
Dad was born on June 8, 1931, in Bessemer City, North Carolina. He grew up in the surrounding area with his siblings, Joy, June and Tommy. He served his country as a Marine, attended Gardner-Webb college, and later graduated from NC State. He married our mother, Bevarly Walton Ward, on August 25, 1956. He was best known as the Textile Plant Manager of United Merchants Mill in Clarkesville.
Mom and Dad retired to the Skylake community in Sautee Nacoochee where they spent many happy years. Dad enjoyed tennis, gardening, golf, hiking, whitewater rafting and kayaking, running, Scouting, poetry, painting and being a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church.
Dad was preceded in death by our mother, Bevarly Ward Jackson, on October 8, 2016, and siblings, Joy, Tommy and June.
He is survived by his children, Lewis Clark Jackson, Jr., Julie Jackson Gossett (John), Tommy Jackson (Ann), and Michael Jackson; along with grandchildren, Anna Elrod, Adam Elrod (Shanna), Jennie Stanley (Sutton), Madison Jackson, Kaitlyn Jackson, Lauren Jackson, Finn Jackson and Kristina Jackson. He was also a great-grandfather to Wyatt Elrod, Harlynn Stanley and Hendrix Staney. Also surviving are niece, Karen Ross; great-niece, Amy Kellum; and great-nephew, David McMahan.
Upon leaving from a visit at Julie's house, dad left a note saying, "THANKS IT WAS A GOOD TRIP, GREAT WEATHER AND EXCELLENT COMPANY, BUT I AM CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE RIVER THAT I CAN SMELL THE WATER SO I AM GOING TO STAMPEDE ON TOWARD GEORGIA." On October 29th Dad's life here on earth ended, and he crossed that river and STAMPEDED on toward Heaven!
Our greatest joy is that he knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and that he raised us in His nurture and admonition. He was a man of integrity that loved his family.
The family will hold a small celebration of life at a later date.
