Josephine Kurczek Obituary

Josephine M. Kurczek, age 83, of Neshkoro, died peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.

She was born January 15, 1932 in Ashland, WI. She was raised in the Stone Lake, WI area by foster parents, Otto & Katherine Kellner. She moved to the Neshkoro area where she met and married Adam Kurczek on February 14, 1961. She enjoyed all outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, gardening and feeding the birds. Josephine was an excellent baker. She made pies, cookies and bread for everyone. She worked at Truesdell Fur Co. in Berlin, and for twenty years at Berlin Foundry, until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Bad River Band of Chippewa Indians of Odanah, WI and St. James Parish in Neshkoro.

She is survived by her husband, Adam; children, Patty (Harry) Reilly; Rose (Alan) Yahr, Adam Jr. (Mary) Kurczek, Ann (Jamie) Nowak and Amy (Steve) Wagner; twelve grandchildren, Matt (Marie) Reilly, Sarah (Bruce) Culver, Angie (Joe) Schmidt, Mandy (Bryan) Schultz, Mitch (Caitlin) Yahr, Alli Yahr (fiancé, Joey Morrell), Adam (Sara) Kurczek, Brad (Heather) Kurczek, Courtney (Michael) Judas, Justin Wagner (friend, Britney Kennedy), Jennifer Wagner and Jacob Wagner (friend, Mariah Moe); eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Phillips (special friend, Dick); sisters-in-law, Agnes Beilmeier and Barbara Kurczek; nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro, the Rev. Dale Grubba officiating. Inurnment will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin is serving the family.
