Mary Ann Schumitsch

Spring Lake - Mary Ann Schumitsch (nee Servi), age 84 of Spring Lake, rural Neshkoro, formerly of Antigo and Milwaukee, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, January 30, 2020 at her home in the Township of Marion, following a 2 year battle with cancer. Mary was surrounded by the love of her family.

Mary was born Nov. 7, 1935, the youngest of triplets born to Joseph and Frances (Brunner) Servi. She was raised in Antigo and was a 1954 Graduate of Antigo High School. She married Arthur Schumitsch July 19, 1958 at St. John's Catholic Church in Antigo. Arthur, her husband of 61 years survives.

Mary and Arthur have lived in their home in Spring Lake since December of 1994, and had a cottage there since 1968. They had lived in Milwaukee, prior to moving to Spring Lake.

Mary loved bowling, playing cards, fishing, and the Green Bay Packers. She was a faithful, active member of St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro. She worked on the funeral circles, was a Eucharistic Minister, worked on the parish picnics, and sorted and counted the weekly collections Monday mornings for 10 years. Mary was also a member of the Neshkoro Lioness Club for many years. She and Art provided transportation for donated eyes for many years. Mary was a GREAT wife mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She raised six kids, and was a kind, gentle, loving woman.

In addition ot her husband, Arthur, Mary is survived by 3 sons, Jim of West Allis, Jerry (Diane) of Milwaukee, and Joe (Joan) Schumitsch of Hartford, WI; 3 daughters, Jan (Bob) Blum of Westfield, Jane Mortazavi of Wauwatosa, and Jean (Steve) Sobeski of Kiel; 12 grandchildren, Alex, Rachel, Brandon, Amber, Cody, Emma. Nikole, Katie, Jakob, Natasha, Samantha, and Leila, and 7 great-grandchildren, Dom, Gabe, Blake, Emily, Eden, Zoe, and Macy. 2 sisters (triplets), Martha (Dick) Rose of New London, and Maggie Smith of Birnamwood; 3 sisters-in-law, Doris (Rudy) Younger of Ft. Collins, CO, Louise (Bud) Korth, Ft. Collins, and Patricia (Randy) McCarry of Waupaca. Mary is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis, Raymond, Jim, Paul, Bill, Joe, and Leonard Servi, and a sister, Anna; and 4 brothers-in-law, Ellsworth, Gilbert, Bob, and Don Schumitsch.

FUNERAL SERVICES: A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Feb. 7th. at 2:00 P.M. at St. James Place in Neshkoro. (St. James Place is located north of St. James Catholic Church on Highway 73 in Neshkoro.) Father Dale Grubba, Pastor will officiate. Following the Mass, Mary will be laid to rest in St. James Parish Cemetery, Neshkoro.

VISITATION: Relatives and friends may visit with Mary's family Friday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. prior to the Mass at St. James Place. Should relatives and friends desire, Memorials for St. James Catholic Church or the Neshkoro Lions Club will be appreciated
