Robert Pollex Obituary

Robert "Bob" Pollex

La Crosse - Robert "Bob" Pollex, 68 of La Crosse, Wis., died Thursday March 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Bob was born in Berlin, Wis., to Otto and Enid (Gobbs) Pollex on November 25, 1949. Bob was a graduate of Omro High School where he played baseball and basketball. He worked most of his life as a manager at Osco Drug and then Walgreen's, but his real loves were cooking and sports. He opened his own restaurant, Lobo's Lair in La Crosse, Wis., and family and friends came from all over to eat his fantastic food. Bob was an avid Wisconsin sports fan. His TV was always on a game or ESPN. This passion for sports was transferred to all his children. Bob was survived by his 5 children: Celeste (Chris) Dyer, Adam Pollex, Patrick (Christina) Pollex, Joey Pollex and Michael (fiancé Karissa) Pollex; 4 grandchildren: Addison and Charles Dyer, Hailey and Lincoln Pollex; 2 sisters: Gloria Frees and Peg Mulder; 2 brothers: Ed (Judy) Pollex and Dale (Kay) Pollex; brother-in-law Richard Mulvey; former spouses: Laura (Reinert) Vierling and Kathy (Olmsted) Pollex; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. A big thank you to Bob's closest friends who visited him almost every day: Dale, Rita, Ted, and Skip. Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Mulvey and brother-in-law Judd Frees. A celebration of life will be held at Tanner's Tap & Grill in Omro, WI on April 14th 2018 from 2 to 6 pm. Online guestbook may be signed at www.schumacher-kish.com.

I used to look forward to seeing bob at Walgreen's. We had worked together for 5 years at Osco Drug. I was sad to hear I wouldn't be seeing him anymore when he left Walgreen's but its nice to know he was doing something for himself. I wish I had had the opportunity to visit his restaurant. I remember he was always the one getting everyone together for happy hour after work.

Many fond memories of Bob from my childhood. He always had time for the neighbor kids back in Omro. Football, baseball, mugger... Thank you and God Bless - Mike Zimmer Omro, WI

I will never forget our days working together at Walgreens and our tote races to see who could finish first. I will certainly miss our conversations about the packers and brewers. You always kept me in line when I was feeling the doom and gloom during games. You are a one of kind and someone I am glad I was able to call my friend. Rest in peace my friend, we will miss you.
