Anthony Gaddes Obituary

GADDES, ANTHONY "Tony" MAX; of Waterford; stepped into the light surrounded by love and friendship on August 15, 2012; at the age of 32. He was the beloved eldest son of Bill and Carole Gaddes; and the cherished brother of the late Michael Gaddes (Kristen). Tony leaves behind a loving extended family and an enormous circle of friends. The family is especially grateful to his girlfriend, Brandy Shillinger, who gave him such love and support during the last year of his life. Tony and his brother Michael were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at an early age, but they never let the disease define them. Low-key and uncomplaining, Tony had a dry, understated wit and a wicked sense of humor. He laughed often and savored life. He enjoyed working on his truck, participating in the Woodward Dream Cruise with his dad, brother, and friends, and exhibiting his natural athleticism on the softball field. Number 11 - you will be missed. Tony was a living example of the phrase "still waters run deep." He played the hand he had been dealt with a quiet dignity. He was utterly selfless and kind. Even when struggling with difficult CF and transplant symptoms, Tony would never miss an opportunity to lift up friends, neighbors, and complete strangers alike during hard times. Tony touched the lives of many and left a permanent imprint on our hearts. After his brother's passing in 2009, Tony worked tirelessly in his memory to promote The Gaddes Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to CF research and organ donation. Tony was the grateful recipient of organ donation and requested that his organs be donated after his passing. For more information or to make a monetary donation, please go to

Tony, Bill and Carole,
By your example, you have taught us that faith is not about everything turning out OK. Faith is about being OK no matter how things turn out.

We have lost an exceptional young man, in every way. Heaven has gained a great soul. You and Michael will always be remembered...and loved. Thank you for your love and respect. I visualize you, Cheryl and Michael in God's loving embrace.

Love and Gratitude,
Dave and Tammy

I went to grade. School with the boys. And they will be very much missed by so many. Tony is a great guy and from what I havee talked to friends he lived life to the fullest and enjoyed life and family and his girlfriend. His memery will live on in our heats and many other hearts for ever. He can now play ball with his brother and run and and betogether and look over all of us and see what we all can do with the foundation of cf and what they made out it and how we all keep it going and will fight for a cure. Rip and will be missed.

Tony was a classmate and friend of mine from high school. Even though I haven't seen him since our class reunion, we still kept in touch. He was a wonderful person and I will miss him. I pray healing and comfort for hiis family and his friends, and especially his parents. I give to Cystic Fibrosis every year, but this year, will be in memory of Tony and Michael. God's love and healing on you all.
