I knew Doug because of our racing Formula Fords in the Bulova Series at Mosport in Canada. Now in that business, he would stop by our shop here in Michigan from time to time, even after we helped him sell his last Formula Ford. He sent me some posters late this summer, but said nothing of a health issue. I'm saddened to hear of his passing, doubly so because it is now January 2022. He is missed.

Doug and I have been friends since 1973 when I was 19 years old. He was my mentor and taught me all about racing, building engines, and fixing most anything. We raced together and shared a passion for racing and cars. We often met for breakfast on Sunday mornings where we discussed racing, world news and girlfriends! Doug also introduced me to the Sarasota area in Florida where he visited family over the years. It’s because of Doug that I eventually retired to the area where he visited and had a winter home for a few years. Doug and I were lifelong friends and he was the big brother I never had. He will be missed, but the many stories and memories live on. - Dave Rogers
