Ormiston, Jon Nolan Age 69; of Columbiaville, MI; passed away on August 8, 2016. He was born on February 3, 1947 in Olean, N.Y. Jon and his family moved when he was a young boy to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Senior High School class of 1965. After graduation he served honorably with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Jon was a small business owner in Lake Orion, Michigan for many years and was a member of the Rochester Men’s Group- Class of 1985. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed doing what he loved best, traveling. He loved being on the open road and seeing our beautiful country. Visiting lifelong friends and making many new ones along the way. He enjoyed golfing, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Predeceased by his parents; Harry and June Ormiston. He is survived by his children; Heather (Peter) Merren of Greenville, MI and Jason Ormiston of Greenville, MI, grandchildren; Henry and Owen Merren, siblings; Steve (Karen) Ormiston of Columbiaville, MI, Paul (Marilyn) Ormiston of Midland, MI, Jim (Kathy) Ormiston of Lowell, MI, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 5 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr. Rochester, MI 48307. Jon's dear family, I am so sorry for your loss. Jon and I met as 7th graders and were friends ever since. Every one was his friend. Your father was so well liked and was always there with a smile and a hug at all our reunions. He did much to support our scholarship fund,helping graduating seniors to continue their education.
Jon was the best dancer in our class and every girl wanted to dance with him. He did own the dance floor. We will all miss him and have many happy memories. Sincerely, Louise McCracken

My mom (Sarah) was a very good friend of June and Harry. They worked together in special education and visited each other often. So sorry to hear the news about the loss of Jon.

ORKI brother, we sure had some times together, from high school track to Black Lake. I don't know anyone else that has climbed out UNDERNEATH the Mackinaw Bridge but we did, didn't we. You will sorely be missed my friend.

So sorry to hear that Jon passed away. Though being in pain for too many years is to hard for any of us. My prayers to the entire Ormiston family. I remember my mom just thought the world of Jon and he knew it and played it up as much as he could. Such a friendly jovial guy. He drove to my house from Portland to Lowell when i was going through a horrific time and stayed for quite a while. He didn't bat an eye when someone like me needed his shoulder to lean on or someone to listen. And he did that very well. I bet he did that to lots of us. He will be missed. Karen Myers, Lowell
