Olive J. Dopp

DOPP, OLIVE J.; of Troy; formerly of Royal Oak; died peacefully, February 17, 2014. She was 96 years old. Olive was born June 5, 1917, in Detroit, to Amy (nee Street) and John Hemming. Olive worked as a Secretary at Bruce LaFrance Insurance in Royal Oak and Ford Motor Company in Highland Park. She was a life long and active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Royal Oak where she served on the Altar Guild. Family was the most important thing to Olive and her greatest joy came from spending time with them. She loved a party and never missed celebrating an anniversary, birthday or any special event with her family. She especially loved spending summers with family and friends at the family cottage on Lake Huron in Lexington Heights. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Olive was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. But her sense of humor and fun loving nature will reside forever in the heart of everyone who knew her. Olive is survived by her children, Gary Dopp, Edward (Barbara) Dopp, and Kathleen (Jeffrey) Daws. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelly, T.J., and Steven. Olive is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Dopp; granddaughter, Sondra; and brothers, Stanley Hemming and John Hemming. Friends and family may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads) Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. with prayers and a remembrance at 7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 26998 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, Friday at 11 a.m. with The Reverend Robert Hart officiating. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
