Amelia Johnson Obituary

Amelia Ann Johnson was born on March 12, 1920, and left us on April 8, 2005.She was one of eight children, six brothers and one sister. Born in Brownsville, Texas, Babe grew up in Riverside, and moved to Lancaster, California in 1932. After attending Antelope Valley High School and Junior College, she moved to Hollywood, California in 1940.In 1948 she married James B. Johnson, Jr. His military career took them to many locations around the world. They were blessed with two children.Ann created her own successful career over the years as a real estate agent. In 1978 she designed and built a home on her beloved Long Lake. She enjoyed volunteering at the Lacey Fire Department #3. She loved to bowl, entertain family and friends, work daily crossword puzzles, and watch the Seattle Mariners!She will be forever remembered for her fabulous knitted creations, especially the hundreds of unique personalized Christmas stockings.Ann is survived by her daughter, Kathy Smith, of Port Orchard; her son, Robert Johnson, of Olympia; her beloved grandsons, Collin Smith, of Port Orchard, and James Johnson, of Marseille, France; her brother, Francis Batz, of Olympia; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grand- nieces, and great-grand-nephews.Ann was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Francis Batz; her mother, Etta Louise Kowalski Batz; her husband, Lieutenant Colonel James B. Johnson, Jr.; her brothers, Robert, Louis, Tony, David, and Raymond Batz; and her only sister, Mary Virginia Batz-Godde.Babe was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and friend. She will be missed deeply by all of us.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2005, in the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home in Tacoma, Washington.Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home, (253) 584-0252.
