Andrew Buthorn Obituary

Andrew Ellis Buthorn On March 18, 1981, in Olympia, Washington, the Buthorn family was blessed with a bundle of joy, Andrew Ellis Buthorn. He was welcomed by his older brother Jess, and parents Bill and Nancy. He was baptized in the Catholic Church at St. Michaels. Andrew attended Olympia schools, including Pioneer Elementary, Washington Middle, and Olympia High School, graduating in 1999. He enjoyed his sports, especially golf. When Andrew graduated high school he attended Marymount College in Arlington, VA, majoring in history and playing college golf. Later he came back to Washington state and received his doctorate in Physical Therapy at UPS. Andrew had worked as a PT for the last two and a half years in Eugene , Oregon. Recently he moved to Virginia with the love of his life, Candy Kunze. Unfortunately, on November 23, 2017 both Andrew and Candy were killed. He will be remembered for his love of life, his enthusiasm for living, be it playing the guitar, riding his bike or beating his dad in golf. He was a history buff, and a beer and coffee connoisseur. Most importantly Andrew loved his family more than any-thing. He is survived by his brother Jess, parents Bill and Nancy, several aunts and uncles, and cousins that he adored. Services for Andrew will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 11a.m. Donations may be sent to St. Vincent De Paul at St. Michael Church, PO Box 766, Olympia WA 98507.

I just learned of Andrew's death late last night. It is absolutely heartbreaking and stunning. So difficult to process. My heart goes out to his family. He was truly a beautiful person. And a very special person. I met him while he was living and working in Eugene and I was living in Corvallis. We dated for a couple of months. I feel blessed and lucky to have shared some really nice time with him. Our paths parted as I was dealing with some health issues that I needed to deal with. We kept in touch. I was so happy for him when he shared he'd met someone, Candy. Knowing they found each other brings some peace but it is still so difficult to know their lives ended like they did. I will remember him always. My deepest sympathy to those who loved him.

Love and prayers,
Jessica Pliskin

I just found out about Andrews death. He was my physical therapist this past summer. In just two months helped me deal with my pain that I had had for decades. He gave me tools that changed my life and I had a new sense of gratitude. This morning I googled him because he left the medical group just before my final assessment and I wondered where I could find him to help with another issue. Instead, I found his obituary. God bless him on his eternal pathway. He was an instrument of healing pain in my life and I am forever grateful.

Bill and Nancy,

I have been away for seven weeks and just now learned of your son''s death. What a terrible loss, and how hard this must be for you. We never expect to outlive our children and the pain of doing so is the greatest that anyone can suffer. My heart goes out to you, and my prayers as well.

I am so very sorry for your loss. There are just simply no words I can convey to alleviate how you are feeling. Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers as we all try to make sense of something so senseless and so life altering for all. I only met Andrew recently once but in that brief meeting it was clear he was a light in this world. Hugs to you from the East coast.

I was Andrew's golf coach at Marymount and he was one of the nicest young men I have had in my 20 years of coaching college golf. He had a contagious smile and was always willing to help others. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Andrew was my physical therapist last spring. He was a great help to me as I recovered from knee replacement surgery. He was competent, professional, and most of all very nice. I am so sad. I cannot imagine the grief his family must feel. My thoughts are with you. Just know that Andrew touched my life in a very positive way. Lynne Sheppard

Unfortunately I didn't get to know Andrew as an adult but did know him as a infant and toddler. We shared many fun evenings with Nancy and Bill with our 4 boys all close in age. Words cannot express the sadness in my heart for Nancy, Bill and Jess... and of course all of the family that loved Andrew.

My sincerest condolences,
