Arthur De Moss Obituary

Arthur "Tom" De Moss Arthur "Tom" De Moss, 73, passed away December 9, 2018 surrounded by family. Tom was born May 25, 1945 in Albany N.Y. to Constance B. (Ivey) and Arthur S. De Moss. He graduated from Union Endicott High School in Endicott NY and attended Broome County Technical College there. He later attended Tennessee Temple College. During his earlier life he lived in Puerto Rico, Grand Rapids MI, Spokane WA, and Chicago. In 1987 he moved to Colville WA to be closer to his sister, Robin Ivey-Black and his brother-in-law, Greg Black. When they moved to Olympia in 1992 he moved there a year later. Everywhere Tom lived he brought joy and community to those he met with gifts of flowers, friendliness, and conversation. Until he had acute problems with his balance Tom regularly socialized at The Spar, Cafe Vita, the Westside Co-op, Voyeur, WA Street Market, De Colores Book Store, Appolo's Pizza and Pasta, WA Mutual Bank, Vic's Pizza, Ben Moores and Calvary Baptist Church. We loved Tom's keen sense of humor and his amazing memory of events and birthdays. He inspired us with his gratitude towards all those who helped him and his fortitude and grace in light of the many challenges he lived with. Our family is forever grateful for those caregivers and kind souls who loved and cared for Tom. Tom is survived by his sister Robin L. Ivey-Black and brother Howard C. Ivey as well as siblings; Elisabeth, Paul, Mark, and Charlotte De Moss, Deborah De Moss Fonseca, and Nancy De Moss Wolgemuth. Preceeding him in passing are his mother Constance Ivey, father Arthur De Moss and brother David De Moss. There will be a Celebration of Life for all who knew Tom on Sat. Jan.12, 2018 at noon at the Abigail Stuart House, 1002 Washington St. SE Olympia. Please RSVP to [email protected] if you plan to attend.
