Bob Musser Obituary

Bob Musser, 69, went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2007. He was born on May 8, 1937 in Tacoma, Washington to Robert and Lilly Musser. In 1940, they moved to a farm southwest of Olympia, where they raised dairy cows to help support the war effort. On this farm, he grew up and would spend most of his life. In 1955, he graduated from Olympia High School and attended the University of Puget Sound. He later served in the Washington State National Guard, and was also very involved with the United Way. Bob was also an active member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for many years, and then later of the Grace Redeemer Bible Church, a new church which he helped to plant in Olympia. On October 13, 1957, he married LaVonne Edenstrom. They had three children together: Steve, Pam, and Mark. Though they lived in the city of Olympia for nine years, Bob was on the farm so much on the weekends that they decided to build a home on the farm and move there. Bob and his wife have lived on their family farm since 1968, the very farm that was his pride and joy, where gardening was his special love, if not a hobby. In 1990, after 30 years of service, Bob retired from Pacific Northwest Bell, where he started out as a splicer and later became an engineer. After retirement, he continued to work part-time for various companies, his latest employment being with the Tenino Phone Company. During his retirement, Bob was also heavily involved with the Thurston County Planning Commission, but most of all Bob loved to work on the farm and enjoy his six grandchildren: Amanda, Leah, Rachel, Ryan, Alex, and Paul. A memorial service will be held at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road S.W., Tumwater, on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the McLane Grange in West Olympia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the United Way.
