Olympia, Washington - Edward Arvine Doench Jr. 76, passed away December 26th, 2021 in Olympia,Wa. Ed was born in Alameda,Ca in 1945 to Edward Arvine Doench Sr. and Naomi Dawson Doench. When he was 2 years old Ed moved to Washington with his parents and twin sister growing up and attending school in the Lacey area. Ed graduated from North Thurston High School in 1963 and while still in school he worked at several auto service stations which led to a career in the automotive business. In 1965 Ed met and married Kathleen Hepler in Seattle. They had two daughters, Tawnya and Alisha. While in Seattle Ed worked for Standard Oil Company of California managing stations in Seattle and in Juneau, AK. Ed purchased his first Chevron station at Greenlake is Seattle in 1970. After 6 years Ed moved his family to Olympia where he purchased Mud Bay Chevron in 1978. Later Ed owned and operated Cherry Street Automotive and Nisqually Auto Wrecking where he retired from in 2009.
Ed is survived by his daughter Tawnya Lapp and her husband Chris and their children Trenton and Alina. Daughter Alisha Markoff and her husband Jeff and their children Clay and Josie. Son Chad Sutter and his wife Janice and their children Jack and Cece. Twin sister Ann Anderson and her sons Barry and Brandon Anderson. Brother Joe Doench and his wife Kathy. Nephew Scott Chastain and niece Misti Chastain. Half sister Pam Haggard and half brother Eric Doench. Ed was predeceased by his father Edward in 1978, mother Naomi in 2005 and sister Susie Chastain in 2020.
Ed lived a full life and he enjoyed his work, loved to go hunting and seldom missed the daily lunch with his many friends he made over the years in the car business. He loved to make people laugh and was very generous to anyone he met. Ed loved his family immensely and he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will held in the spring of 2022 and details will be announced at a later time. Any memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to St.Judes Children Hospital
