Harold H. Harrison Harold H. Harrison, much loved husband, father, grandfather and best friend, went home to be with the Lord and his wife, Evelyn H. Harrison (Bates) on September 13th, 2011. Harold was born in Kansas City, Kansas on May 27th, 1919 to James T. and Mina Belle Harrison (Peal). Harold had 4 brothers, Frank, Roy, Ed & Henry, plus three sisters, Zorra Harrison, Irma Trafton and Audra Davidson. All since deceased, Harold was the youngest. Harold attended Yelm schools but graduated from Roy High School in 1938. Harold studied animal husbandry and farm sciences. Harold then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and was a sergeant stationed at Camp Beale, CA and then Ft. Lewis, WA. Because he typed he was never sent overseas to war but worked at Madigan Hospital in the records department and took care of all the returning wounded soldiers. Harold cashed his payroll checks on base every month. That is when a beautiful payroll clerk entered his life for the next 61 years. Evelyn and Harold were married July 13, 1946 in a private ceremony at her mother's home in Tacoma. They raised three children, Denny (deceased in 2002), Cheryl Loper (Steve) and Gayle Wilson. Family was everything and he loved his six grandchildren, Chris (Jen) , Scott (Kristina and Jason Loper, Karie (Rikki) Wilson, Katie Shiflett (Brandon), Matthew Harrison(Jeannie) and Chad Harrison (deceased in 1991); seven great grandchildren, Grace and Sam Loper, Kiev Wilson and Ramar Reid, Evelyn and Eleanor Loper, Tyson and Brady Harrison. And new family, his care givers in the past 4 years, Donna, Sarah, Giny and Lauren. A favorite Grandpa saying when grandchildren asked for a drink of his pop or some of his mixed nuts he would reply, "Just a little bit, not too much". Harold retired from the service in 1946 and purchased his farm in 1956. There he logged, cleared land and raised his gorgeous Hereford cattle. He loved to Fly fish and garden and at his passing all were still enjoying the fruits of his labor. After a logging accident had him change professions to a field representative for Production Credit Association, he continued to farm, grow his garden and raise cattle. A private burial will be held at the Yelm Cemetery, with just family in attendance on Monday, September 19th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Following will be a gathering for friends and family at 1:00 p.m. at the family home of Harold. Remembrances could be donations toward a family plan to add more rhododendrons to the fence line of his farm. To leave remembrances online go to
