James Andreasen Obituary

July 8, 1953 -- November 5, 2002James Lima Andreasen died peacefully in his sleep on November 5, 2002 after a heroic battle with colon cancer. He was 49 years old.Jim was the beloved husband and best friend of Lynne Andreasen and the adoring father of their daughter Janelle.Jim was the devoted son of Norman Anderson (deceased) and Lilianne Anderson of Chatham, Mass.He leaves behind his brothers, Steve and Jere, sister-in-law, Laurie, and nephew, Keith.Jim was deeply loved and will be missed by his parents-in-law, Betty and Harry Brooks, of Oceanside, Calif.Jim was born in Boston, Mass. on July 8, 1953. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He worked as a computer software engineer for Atari, MSI, Appian Graphics, and ATI Technology. He was regarded as a video game pioneer in the 1980s with Atari and he remained on the cutting edge of his profession pursuing the development of multiple- screen technology.Jim enjoyed his travels to Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii, and often told family friends he was happiest and felt the most "free" in the mountains.He met and married Lynne, the love of his life, in Santa Cruz, Calif. In 1987 he moved to Olympia with his wife and young daughter.Jim loved skiing, sailing, golf, and Mariners baseball. He will be remembered most for his beautiful smile, his generous nature, and his absolute non- judgmental attitude toward all he met. He blessed his family and friends with this genuine love until the end of his life on earth. Everyone who knew Jim counts it as a privilege.Jim was truly loved, and he will be deeply missed by countless friends and relatives.A Celebration of Life memorial will be held on November 10, 2002 at 4323 Park Drive SW, Olympia, Wash., 98512 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. All who knew and cared for Jim are invited to attend.
