Loree Poutre Obituary

Loree Ann Poutre Loree Ann Poutre, age 62, died peacefully on March 13, 2017 at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, Washington, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Loree was born July 31, 1954, in Visalia, California, the daughter of Earl F Spotts and Mildred Maryetta Pritchard. Loree was an excellent swimmer, setting records in high school and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors with her fondest memories of time spent at the cabins in Mineral King, CA. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and family. Loree graduated from Nordhoff High School in Ojai, CA; attended Chico State University and received a BA from Evergreen State College, where she studied psychology. In addition to being a homemaker and raising her three children, Loree was employed for many years as a grocery clerk. She loved interacting with and helping customers and her friendly manner brought joy to those she met. Loree is survived by her siblings, Carol Glashoff of Monterey, CA, Julie (Don) Stevens of Spokane, WA, and Danny (Janeen) Steer of Spokane, WA; her children Molly (Tanler) Volkmann of Los Angeles, CA, Noah (Sarah) Poutre of Mill Creek, WA, and Jacob Poutre of Olympia, WA; her grandchildren Cohen (6) and Poppi (4) Poutre, Wylder (3) and Walker (2) Volkmann; nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and close friends. There will be a private gathering for immediate family in Mineral King, CA this summer to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be designated for ovarian cancer research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Memorials can be made online at http://getinvolved.fhcrc.org/goto/LoreePoutre or mailed to Fred Hutch, PO Box 19024, Dept. J5-200 Seattle, WA 98109. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor of St. Peters Hospital for the loving care they provided in her last days.

I only ever spoke to Loree when she checked me out of the grocery store. She was always so warm and kind, in a very memorable way. I am sorry for your loss.

To Loree's family and friends,

Though I/we have only known her for such a short time, six/seven years I believe, everyday seems like it was yesterday. Her smile lit up a room and her sense of humor was like no other. We took great delight with Loree being in our Gal Pal/Glam-Gal group. It was never a dull moment, but sadly to say, not enough of those moments. So family and friends, hang on tight, and stay close to all that have touched your life. Let them know often how important they are to you.

Always always, and never forget,

~g~

I am so sad to know Loree has passed. I worked with her a short time and I remember how sad she was when her big dog passed away. I remember how excited she was to see her kids and grand babies and the delight she had in planning trips to see them. Love for her family shined out of her. My prayers for your broken hearts in your grief. I hope the great memories of her and with her always overpower your sadness.

I love you mom. I can't believe you're gone, I'm going to miss you so much. You were the best mother I could have ever asked for. Your battle with this terrible disease was so admirable. I know you are at peace and no longer in pain and at least I can take comfort in that.
