Port Townsend, Washington - Michael A. Hoskins, aged 66, passed away on August 17, 2024, in Silverdale, WA. Born in Tacoma, WA on March 14, 1958, Michael's life was marked by a spirit of adventure and a passion for both music and craftsmanship.

Michael graduated from Timberline High School in Olympia, WA, and went on to study at Washington State University and Evergreen State College. His entrepreneurial spirit was evident early on as he owned a retail plant store during his high school years. He was also a member of the rock band "Ryan," showcasing his musical talents.

His career path was as diverse as his interests. Michael worked alongside his brother Don in restoring historic buildings in La Conner and Port Townsend, WA. His craftsmanship flourished as he became a fine woodworker, building custom furniture and cabinetry. Michael's skills led him to purchase the old Masonic Hall in Quilcene, where he relocated his woodworking business and spent spare time restoring the building. His professional journey also included roles as a Plans Reviewer for Jefferson County and as Building Official for the City of Port Townsend, from which he retired in 2017 following a diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer's.

Michael's hobbies were as varied as his career. He restored and built antique airplanes, raced sailboats, and was the commodore of the yacht club in Quilcene. An avid mountain bike rider, his last rides were cherished memories with friends Rick and Mary Sepler. Additionally, Michael played Gypsy Jazz guitar with his friend Tom Hagen, further highlighting his artistic side.

Michael is survived by his mother, Delphia Hoskins Bennett; brothers, Don Hoskins (Cindy) and Brett Hoskins (Kathy Burbidge); sister, Judi Hoskins (Joe Suty); son, Robbie Hoskins (Kristina); and grandchildren, Lily, Jameson, and Rhett Hoskins. He also leaves behind his lifelong friend, Jan Marie McGehee. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hoskins.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or the Port Townsend Aero Museum, honoring Michael's passions and his battle with Alzheimer's disease. Michael's kind caring spirit along with his many talents will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
