Richard D. Heckard

Richard D. Heckard Richard lost his battle with cancer on November 3, 2014 while at his home in Olympia. He was born to William Julian and Maxine Edith Heckard on April 7, 1945 in Seattle, Washington. Richard graduated from Eatonville High School in 1964. He then continued his education at Clover Park from 1965 to 1966 and studied Airplane Mechanics. After his studies Richard went to work for AFTON Air Service in Sitka, Alaska followed by working for the Washington State Department of Transportation in Tumwater and Tacoma. During this time Richard found the love of his life, Maxine "Irene" Graham, whom he married at Wenatchee, Washington in 1979. Richard spent his life in Washington living in Seattle, Eatonville, Wenatchee and Olympia. Richard was a member of the Evergreen Sportsman Club as well as the Olympia Elks Lodge #186 where he was Past Exalted Ruler and a Trustee. He enjoyed spending time outdoors; hunting, fishing, shooting, camping and hiking. He was also known for giving people a good - bad time. Richard is survived by his wife, Maxine "Irene" Heckard of Olympia, WA; son, Don Reese (Sandy) of Vancouver, WA; cousin, Cathleen Faltico (Larry) of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Randle Miller (Tamara) and Chris Reese both of Vancouver, WA; great grandchildren, Destiny Miller and Tyler Miller both of Vancouver, WA. He is predeceased by a great granddaughter, Emily Miller. A memorial service will be held in Richard's honor starting at 1:00 p.m. on November 8, 2014 at the Olympia Elks Lodge, 1818 4th Avenue E, Olympia, WA 98506.
