Robert Dethlefs Obituary

Robert E. Dethlefs Robert E Dethlefs, 95, passed away peacefully at his Tumwater home, August 16, 2017. At his side was his devoted wife of 71 years, Irene (Vandewalle) Dethlefs. Bob is lovingly survived by son Dave (wife Suzanna), grandsons Mark Dethlefs (wife Stephanie), Richard Dethlefs (wife Lara), four great grandchildren Cy, Eva, Sara, Jacob and sister Wilma Jensen. WWII veteran, Bob left his military service to become a beloved teacher in McCleary and Shelton, WA. Upon retirement he opened a landscaping business to continue serving the community. He enjoyed music, travel and gardening. Bob kept his sense of humor every day of his life. Preceding him in death were parents Herman and Opal, brother Ted. Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on September 6, 10AM followed by a gathering in Tahoma Hall.

Dave, so sorry for the loss of your father. I know he lived a long life; but, the loss of a father leaves a big hole in the heart and big shoes to fill. Much love to you, Suzanne and your family. You're all in my prayers, dear friend.
