Olympia, Washington - Rozanne Rants died on Wednesday, August 14th at the age of 85. A long relationship with Parkinson's Disease and a strong belief in self-determination led her to choose Death with Dignity, surrounded by her partner Chuck, friends, and family in a love-filled afternoon in her backyard in Olympia.

Rozanne was born in Grand Coulee, WA on January 11, 1939 while her father helped build the dam. Her brother, Richard, was born a few years later. The Brewster family moved to Georgetown in Seattle, then to West Seattle, where they settled in a small house with a big yard and a view of Beacon Hill. Rozanne went to Holy Rosary School for all 12 years. She moved to California briefly, then returned to Seattle, where she met her future husband, Ron Rants. They had three kids, Pat, Erin and Tim.

When the kids became teens, Rozanne returned to college, graduating from The Evergreen State College and St. Martin's College with a Master's degree in Counseling.

Rozanne used her training and skills as an effective and kind therapist and case manager with people experiencing mental health challenges and as a massage therapist at Radiance Herbs and Massage. When she met Chuck Schultz, they started a love affair and a shared focus on anti-death penalty and anti-war activism. She had just found out she had Parkinson's, and she used her own experience to lead a support group for Parkinson's patients and exercise groups at the Olympia Senior Center. She was an avid poet and artist, and loved marching in her own creations in the Procession of the Species.

Rozanne will be sorely missed by her children, Chuck, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many friends. Her remains are being turned into soil to be used in reforestation in the Olympics.
