Andrea Blum Obituary

Andrea Jayne Blum, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 1, at home. She was born on Dec. 17, 1971, to Jay and Merial Ann Wiedeman. Andrea graduated from Plymouth High School in 1990. Andrea married Michael Blum on Dec. 15, 1990. She was the love of Michael's life.
Andrea was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Angela, and recently a brother-in-law Nick Southwell. Missing Andrea are her husband, Michael, son, Alexander (fiancée Emerson), daughter, Abbygael, and step-daughter, Jennifer and her children, Magnus and Clementine, a brother, David (Helen) Wiedeman of Missouri, sister, Aimee (Stan) Ellinger, and sister Monica Southwell all of Plymouth. Along with many nieces and nephews she loved and cared for deeply.
Andrea was a hard-working dedicated mother, wife, and sister. She lived her life for her family. She worked for Pathfinder Services for 31 years where she received multiple awards. Her clients were like family to her. She was a passionate advocate for them. Her heart was exceptionally kind. Her gift was being an encourager to others and used it daily. She had a strong faith in the Lord and lived a life caring for others. Andrea loved her pets, her trees, and the birds in her backyard. She never felt the need to travel, because she said everything she enjoyed in life was right here at home.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Crossroads Church, Plymouth, 4-7 p.m. with funeral following. Burial will be Thursday, Oct. 7 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon at 11 a.m.

The lessons I learned from Andrea when we were children:
1. There is always time for a bike ride...especially one that went around our country block.
2. The woods is a place of adventure...all you need is your imagination, a fort made of sticks and branches, and a tree stump toilet.
3. The best treat on a hot summer day is a cookie snuck from Geneva's freezer...although Geneva always knew we were eating them.

My childhood memories are filled with Andrea and our adventures. Because of her, I look back on a time filled with wonder and laughter.

Someone once told me that every life is filled with moments of magic. The problem is that we rarely can see the magic until it is gone. I am beyond grateful for my friendship with Andrea and the magic she created when we were kids.

My prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

She cared about all of us she knew and was willing to help if needed. A very sweet young woman who will be missed by all of her family and friends.
