BREMEN - Charles Edward Spencer, 64, of Bremen passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He was born to Luther and Viola Spencer in Jackson, Ky. on Feb. 7, 1950. In December of 1968 he married Jan Sumpter.
Charlie was the owner and operator of Spencer RV Sales and Service. He was a former member of Jaycees and the Bremen Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he liked to tinker with old cars and ride his Honda. He also enjoyed horses and taking trips to Florida. Most of all, Charlie loved spending time with the pride and joy of his life, his children and grandchildren.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan Spencer of Bremen; two children, Angela (Christopher) Reed and Brad (Kat) Spencer, both of Bremen; four grandchildren, Noah, Elijah, Mikalah, and Jesse; and five siblings, Cecil "Bill" Spencer, Opal Smith, Mabel Hicks, Maxine Trent, and Faye Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jonah Reed; and seven siblings, Luther Spencer Jr., Ervine Spencer, Gene Spencer, William Spencer, Hazel Rose, Linda Mae Grant, and Mary Magdalene Spencer.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Christopher Reed will officiate with burial following at the Bremen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bremen VFW or the Bremen Lighting Ceremony Fund.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.

My Uncle Charles,
Charles was my uncle , I think of him every day, along with my many other uncles and Aunts. Mom hade a large family . I was so fortunate to have such a family .
Charles was only 8 years older and was so much fun that when mom would say Charles (Charley's ) coming to see us, I counted the days hoping that time would speed up and when he got to us I wanted time to slow down and never end when he got there.
The problem with a lot of Uncles and Aunts is you don't really get to know them all ! In my life I got to know and love Jr, Gene, Bill, and Charles, my Aunts Opal, Faye, Hazal, my aunt Maxine (the Charles iof the Aunts.)
The As time past the Aunts and Uncles pass away , the family getsmaller and visits end so many cousins that you don't even know their names.. I want so much to find away to get everyone together and celebrate the brothers and sisters that my mom had .
Thank you God for letting me have My uncle Bill , my Aunts Opal Fay and my version of Charles, Maxine.

Charlie was a very good friend of mine and i miss him dearly.charlie was my bestest friends grandfather.her name is mikalah spencer and shes barely okay now still after,even thpught it has been about a year and a half or so.............. R.I.P Charles Edward Spencer

I have many great memories of Charlie growing up, especially visiting the "Spencer Farm" to see all the animals. I know he was one of my father's favorite people as well. He was a great man and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

We just met Charlie earlier this year when he worked on our RV. He was an awesome person to talk to. Very knowledgeable. We enjoyed listening to all of his stories about his life and grandkids. Our deepest sympathy to his wife and family.
