Gary Grise Obituary

Gary Edward Grise of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Bremen, IN, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, in Tucson following complications from a stroke. He was born Jan. 22, 1951, in South Bend, Ind., to Paul and Edna (Germann) Grise, who preceded him in death.
On May 16, 1970, he married Kathryn "Kay" Kiel, in Bremen, Ind, who survives. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage and had shared many fun memories together during those years including camping, going to the races, and cross-country road trips – many of these with their daughter, Michele.
Gary graduated from Penn High School and for years farmed the family land with his dad, which was something he greatly enjoyed. He worked at various local recreational vehicle factories and as a woodworker, making flute cases for more than 25 years. Gary had an interest in getting to know people and had many friends from all over. He enjoyed farming, auto racing, golf, drives in the country with Michele, and spending time with his nephews Brendan and Brice Kiel, who were like grandsons to him.
Gary is survived by his daughter Michele of Tucson; brother Charles (Carol) Grise, of Franklin, N.C.; sister Susan (Alan) Miller, Bremen, Ind.; brothers-in-law Fred Kiel, Elkhart; Curt (Jane) Kiel, Bremen; Bob (Sharon) Kiel, Thomson, GA; Jim (Kathi) Kiel, Tucson, AZ; and sister-in-law Nancy (Larry) Pittman, Osseo, WI. He had 28 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Linda (Grise) Shah; brothers-in-law Uttamlal "Tom" Shah, Kenneth H. "Ken" Kiel, William "Bill" Kiel and Lee Kiel; sister-in-law, Pat (Kiel) Schiffer; several sisters-in-law by marriage; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Lucille (Jeffrey) Kiel.
Before moving to Arizona, he was an active member of Oak Grove Community Church, Nappanee.
There will be a celebration of life in the spring of 2026.
