Kim Sellers Obituary

Kim Sellers, age 56 of Wakarusa, IN passed away at 11:47 am on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 after a 7-year battle with cancer. Kim was born on January 10, 1969 in Bremen, IN to Robert and Sue (Welch) Hickman. Kim was a 1987 Bremen High School graduate where she excelled as a 3-sport athlete. Kim is a member of the Bremen High School Athletic Hall of Fame for her exploits in volleyball, basketball and tennis. Kim went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Huntington University in 1991. While at Huntington, Kim once again excelled as a 3-sport athlete. She competed in tennis, basketball, and softball for the Foresters. She is also a member of the Huntington University Athletic Hall of Fame for her accomplishments in her four years at the university. Kim later received her Master's Degree in Education from Olivet Nazarene University. On August 13, 1994, Kim married Norm Sellers in Bremen. They made their home in Bremen, IN for several years before moving to Wakarusa. Kim worked tirelessly as a 4th grade teacher for Bremen Public Schools. She had a heart for her students and loved teaching with the highly trained staff at Bremen Elementary. Kim loved spending time with family and friends and longed to be at the beach. The beach was her happy place and she cherished family vacations there. She also loved family ski trips over Christmas break to Northern Michigan. Kim loved to shop; in person, on-line, wherever, Kim was a shopper. She also loved art and enjoyed taking pottery classes. Creating and painting keepsakes for family and friends. Kim loved her dogs; Wrigley and River were by her side and she loved their companionship. Above all else, Kim loved her family and friends. She loved spending time with those she loved the most; she especially loved doting on her 3 sons and supporting them through their many endeavors. She loved her boys. Kim is survived by her husband of 31 years, Norm Sellers of Wakarusa; 3 sons: Trent (Alexis Houk) Sellers of Wakarusa, Chad (Kylie) Sellers of Carmel, IN, and Kyle Sellers of Wakarusa; brother, Dr. Kevin (Heidi) Hickman of Bremen; and 3 nephews, Dawson, Camden and Maddux Hickman, all of Bremen. Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sue Hickman. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025 at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel (Enter Door H) and from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025 in the Nappanee Missionary Church Worship Center (Enter Door A). One of the best memories. We traveled to Spain and competed against other teams. Kimmie #7 was our team leader and such a blessing to the team.

I was one of the lucky children that got to enjoy Mrs. sellers Elementary class in Bremen. She by far an amazing teacher she loved and cared about all her students. I greatly wished that my kids could of had her because they would of loved her so much. Mrs. Seller your pain and suffering is done now you can teach all the the beautiful little angels in heaven with you. You will forever be missed and loved by all your student.

I was blessed to be in Mrs. Sellers 4th grade class when I was young. She was one of the few teachers throughout my entirety in Bremen public schools that I always treasure because of the impact she made on me. She made me feel seen, heard, known, and loved when not many teachers did. She was genuine and authentic as is the whole Sellers Family. I can still remember one time at recess back then how she showed us how to dribble a basketball with her knees! She was full of talent, compassion, humility ,and lived a life of pouring out into others selflessly. I’m so thankful to have had her and Coach Sellers be such a pivotal part in my upbringing. I work with at-risk youth now and have for over a decade. I strive to be like those teachers that made me feel seen, heard, known, and loved. Those that lead with love and authenticity as Mrs. Sellers did. God bless you Sellers Family!
