COLUMBIA CITY - Janet A. Strader, 74, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, with her husband at her side.
Born on June 21, 1950, in Lawrence, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late James and Ruth (Booger) Barron.
She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1968. She also graduated from the University of Iowa Cum Laude in 1972. Janet was the bagpipe major in the University of Iowa Scottish Highlander Band.
On Aug. 12, 1972, she married David Strader at Jefferson Chapel in Columbia City, Indiana, where they were members. She was deeply involved with prayer groups and care teams at the many different churches she belonged to throughout her life.
Janet was a preschool teacher for more than 30 years.
Janet loved basket weaving and reading. She was her family's prayer warrior and prayed constantly for them and anyone in need. Her grandchildren were her joy in life. She loved to spend time with them and cheer them on in their adventures.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, David; children, Melissa (Ryan) Getts, Ben Strader and Joshua (Abby) Strader; grandchildren, Madeline (Devin) Minear, Luke (Baylie) Getts, James Getts, RJ Getts, Blaze Strader, Vinzent Strader, Gabriel Strader, Alistair Strader, Asher Strader and Shepherd Strader; great-granddaughter, Lylla Getts; and brothers, Jamie (Connie) Barron and John (Jackie) Barron.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m, on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at Jefferson Chapel, 7067 S. C.R. 500E, Columbia City, Indiana, with calling one hour prior.
Burial will take place at Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Janet to Community Harvest Food Bank or Stillwater Hospice.
