Robert Eugene Eames

Robert Eugene Eames, age 85, of Kimmell, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse, Indiana.
Mr. Eames was born May 17, 1931 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Marvin and Ethel Belle (Richey) Eames. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country from 1951-53 during the Korean War.
Upon returning home from the war, Robert married Mary Lou Beers on December 24, 1953 in Burr Oak, Indiana and she survives him. He was employed for 31 years at Blue Bell in Columbia City until its closing in 1978. Robert was also a hog and grain farmer for many years. He also painted and did odd jobs all of his adult life. He was a jack-of-all-trades.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Eames of Kimmell; sons, Kenneth (Sue) Eames of Fort Wayne, Dennis Eames of Cromwell and Daniel (Erica) Eames of Peru; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Eames in August of 2013; and a sister, Evelyn Wells.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held Tuesday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at Sparta Cemetery near Kimmell with Pastor John Lutton officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the West Noble American Legion Post 243, Ligonier.
