Alexander Wilkinson Obituary

WEST DECATUR - Alexander Charles Wilkinson, 27, of West Decatur, died Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Alex was born on July 28, 1997, in Altoona, a son of Danielle (Wilkinson) Minarchick and David Minarchick.

He was a 2015 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School, where he graduated with honors, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Following high school, Alex attended both West Virginia University and Arizona State University, where he studied Aerospace Engineering.

After college, Alex took classes on his own through ISSA and became a Personal Trainer, Nutritionist, and Genetic Counselor. He then started his own website, Throne Fitness, which specialized in designing workouts for individuals in wheelchairs. While running this site, he also designed specialized fitness equipment, such as a wheelchair treadmill. Additionally, he designed the offseason weight training program for the Moshannon Valley Football Team, along with numerous fitness programs for individuals.

Throughout his life after being diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia, he made it a personal mission to fight back against this terrible disease. He participated in numerous drug studies and raised thousands of dollars for research and awareness. Even towards the end of his life, when he knew that the research wouldn't benefit him, he continued to participate in the drug studies, hoping for a breakthrough.

Alex is survived by his mother, Danielle Minarchick, father, David Minarchick, and sister, Isabella Minarchick, all of West Decatur; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Wilkinson, of Coalport; grandparents, Gregory and Denise Minarchick, of West Decatur; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Among his favorite pastimes, Alex enjoyed working out, hanging out with his family and friends, playing board games, gardening, hunting, watching football and MMA fights. But his most memorable passion was spending time with his dogs, first his dachshund, Packer, and most recently, his sister's pitbull Luna, and his beloved boxer, Archie.

Per Alex's wishes, no visitation or funeral services are planned. If you would like to make a donation in his honor, please use the following information and link: Alexander Charles Wilkinson, Email: [email protected], https://give.curefa.org

We think of you all and are sending love daily. Alex´s remarkable spirit will continue to impact so many in this world as he leaves a legacy that most only long for. It meant so much to Seveta that he took time to tutor her in math, appreciated "Totoro" and, most of all, that he along with Danielle and Bella came to watch her perform in "Mama Mia." Stay busy out there Alex- there´s still a lot of work to be done!

You do not know me, I was the Youth Fellowship supervisor several years ago at the Osceola Mills Presbyterian Church. Alex came with Wyatt several times. He was an extremely polite and nice boy. His intelligence and talents were very clear.
Please accept my sympathy and my love. God is Love and God loves Alex and all of you.

Between the two of us, I believe that we created a monster chess player, in our friend Tiffany.
Hopefully our combined contributions will help in finding a cure and rid the world of another monster.
Miss you tons!
