RAMEY - Gary Richard Corrigan "Governor", of Ramey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born in Sandy Ridge, on Feb. 28, 1935, to Samuel Lee and Thelma (Vaughn) Corrigan. He was a graduate of the former Philipsburg High School, Class of 1953, and Williamsport Technical Institute. Known for his dedication, integrity, and friendly spirit, he retired from Penn State as a Laboratory Technician in 1991, a year after marrying the love of his life, Doris (Fenush) Corrigan.
Gary will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, steady strength, and the laughter that brightened every room. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life - the comforts of home; hunting with his son; raising beagles; mushroom foraging; spending time with his family and celebrating his Irish heritage. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Penn State athletics, the LA Dodgers, as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates, rarely missing a game and always cheering on his favorite teams with pride.
Gary gave countless hours to his community as a volunteer and former Fire Chief of the Ramey Fire Company. He also held membership with the Mt. Top Fire Company of Sandy Ridge, and Osceola Lodge No. 515, F.& A.M.
He is survived by his loving wife; one son, Matthew Corrigan; two daughters, Heather (Angelo) Card, and Amy Corrigan (James Hartswick); sisters, Peggy Moore, Judith Kephart, and Elizabeth (Richard) Kerr; brothers, Samuel (Marie) Corrigan, Thomas (Darlene) Corrigan, John Corrigan, and Robert (Charlene) Corrigan.
Gary was the proud grandfather of and survived by five granddaughters -Angela (Reuben) Kendall, Tiffany (Tim) Holzer, Mikayla Corrigan, Sophia and Isabella Card; and great-grandfather to Elowen and Angelo Kendall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mary Corrigan, Virginia Corrigan, Dorothy Cowell, and Elaine Shaw; and two brothers, Russell Corrigan and James Corrigan.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Nov. 8 at Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC., in Osceola Mills with the Rev. Ronald C. Miller, Jr. officiating, visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Allport Cemetery in Allport. Friends and family are invited to join in a reception following the service at Key Largo.
