GARY MICHAELS Obituary

HEPBURNIA - Gary L. Michaels, 80, of Hepburnia died on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

He was born on May 30, 1943 in Clearfield, a son of the late Howard and Vivian (Ramaley) Michaels.

He was a 1961 graduate of Curwensville Area High School.

Previously he was a member of the Clearfield Hospital Board of Directors, Clearfield Chapter Muscular Dystrophy Association, Clearfield County 4-H, Hepburnia 4-H Club, Penn Grange 534 and the Grampian Penn-Bloom Vol. Fire Co.

Gary was a Christian by faith and a member of the Cherry Corner Bible Church where he served as a board member and treasurer for 18 years.

He retired in 1996 as Executive Vice President after 34 years of employment with the Clearfield Bank & Trust Co.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (McFadden) Michaels, whom he wed Dec. 8, 1962 at the Friends Church in Grampian; two children, David (Wendy) Michaels, and Amy (Steven) Heichel; seven grandchildren, Janessa (Scott) Sago, Jonathan (Megan) Michaels, Emily Richards, Laura Richards, Alicia (Dustin) Polites, Alyssa (Aaron) Westover, and Ashley (Trevor) Horton; great-grandchildren, Anthony Sago, Alex Sago, Dominic Sago, Luke Michaels, Avery Michaels, Gavin Polites, Ella Polites, Jackson Westover, Madelyn Westover, Brynlee Horton, and Graham Horton; a sister, Betty (Duane) Test; and a brother, Dorce (Carole) Michaels.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally; four brothers, Wallace, James, Robert, and John; and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Mullins Michaels.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor George W. Solley officiating.

Interment will be at the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.

Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Curwensville is in charge of the arrangements.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cherry Corner Bible Church, 155 Nellie's Rd., Grampian, PA 16838; or Rescue Hose & Ladder Co., 408 Filbert St., Curwensville, PA 16833.

My heart breaks for you Janet and the family. Gary was my oldest friend from my childhood from the Lumber City Brick yard. I loved our visits to talk of old times. I will miss my yearly visit with him, and our chats on the phone. My deepest sympathies to Janet and family.
