Harry Millard Obituary

PHILIPSBURG - Following a life full of love, laughter, and a good bit of hard work, Harry Millard Jr., loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 85, at his home in Philipsburg on Friday, March 20, 2026.

Harry was born on Dec. 24, 1940, in Philipsburg to Harry Sr. and Louise (Jones) Millard.

He married the love of his life, Ilene Mae (Kunsman), on Nov. 10, 1962, in Philipsburg. Their life together spanned 58 years before Ilene passed away on Jan. 29, 2021.

Like his father before him, Harry was deeply rooted in his faith. He attended and supported the Gearhartville Free Methodist Church (now the gFree Church) throughout his life, and enjoyed Sunday mornings in worship. He was a former member of the Lions Clubs and the Gearhartville Sportsmens Club.

Harry was a 1958 graduate of the Philipsburg High School and retired from Holsum Bakery, where he worked for over 40 years. To this day, Harry could recall every stop along his bread route and the people he befriended.

Throughout his life, Harry operated a family farm on his land and could be found before sunrise and after sunset tending the fields and caring for his herd. Countless memories were made during the June and August hay harvests, which became a neighborhood event. Harry always had time for a friendly word with anyone who stopped to say hi and reminisce a bit. Never one to suffer fools gladly, Harry never shirked his responsibilities and was always willing to help.

Harry is survived by two sons, Tim Millard and wife Lori and Jerry Millard and wife Terri; a daughter, Kelly Millard and fiancée Dan Nelson; his loyal companion "Tommy" the cat, all of Philipsburg; two grandsons, Devin Millard and wife Morgan of Kylertown and Justin Millard and wife Diana of Fort Drum, N.Y.; and six great-grandchildren, Carson, Lexi, Josephine, Kohlton, Audree and Easton. Harry is also survived by a sister, Sylvia "Till" Marko of Osceola Mills; a brother, Frank Millard and wife Shirley of Madera, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, Merle Millard, Grace Lamb, Lois Sharpless, Chrissie Millard, Sharon Schleig, Wesley James Millard, Carl Millard, Carol Kephart and two infant siblings at birth.

A funeral service will be held at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, on Friday, March 27 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Noel Meyers officiating. Harry will be laid to rest next to his wife at Centre United Methodist Cemetery, Osceola Mills.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, March 26 from 4-7 p.m. and on Friday, March 27 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Memorial contributions in Harry's memory may be made to the gFree Church, Building Fund, 305 Keystone Hill Rd., Philipsburg, PA 16866.
