JAMES S. "JIM" FORCE

1934 - 2021

PHILIPSBURG - James S. "Jim" Force, 87, of Philipsburg, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Jim was born on Aug. 17, 1934, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Carl E. and Anna (Lyncha) Force.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of the former Cooper Township High School.

He enlisted with the U.S. Air Force in January 1954 and served during the Korean War era and the Suez Canal Crisis.

He was married on Oct. 24, 1959, in Grassflat, to the former Nancy L. Robinson, who preceded him in death on June 24, 2002.

During his working career, Jim was employed with the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 15 years of service. Following his retirement from the USPS, he was employed as a delivery driver with the Moshannon Valley Pharmacy.

Jim was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg for many years; and more recently, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Osceola Mills. He was also a member of the Philipsburg American Legion Post 437; and a member of the "American Diner Coffee Club."

Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon L. Force; in addition to his wife, Nancy.

Jim is survived by two daughters, Anita M. Tibbens of Osceola Mills, and Carla J. Harvey of Sarasota, Fla.; two sons, Ronald S. Force of Bloomsburg and James M. Force (Nicole) of Philipsburg; two sisters, Marlene Matsko (Mike) of Clearfield, and June Gurbal (Daryl) of Grassflat; seven grandchildren, Jessica Wagner (Bob), Josh, Ray, John and Nickolas Force and Colin and Alexis Harvey; his beloved German Shepherd, Heidi; and numerous other extended family members and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E., Spruce St., Philipsburg, with Deacon Dennis Socash officiating.

Following the memorial service, Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service.
