CHERRY TREE - Juanita (Fry) Stockley, 98, of Cherry Tree, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 at St. Andrew's Village in Indiana, Pa.
The daughter of George C. Fry Sr. and Mabel E. (Fulton) Fry, she was born on March 9, 1926 in Patchinville.
Juanita was a graduate of the Cherry Tree High School Class of 1943 and enjoyed attending her school reunions.
She married Richard Lee Stockley on March 24, 1946 and they shared over 51 years of marriage together until his death on March 25, 1997.
Juanita was an active member of the Zion Evangelical Church in Stifflertown for 40-plus years until it closed in 2006. She attended the Chestnut Grove Independent Church in Punxsutawney until she moved to St. Andrew's Village.
She worked for twenty years as a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Cherry Tree and Glen Campbell.
Juanita enjoyed walking and walked six times around her pond every day.
She enjoyed attending the Fry reunions; events at the Burnside/Mahaffey Senior Center and the Harmony Fair. She was a lifelong student of her family's genealogy and wherever she went she rarely found someone she was not related to.
Juanita enjoyed traveling to visit her siblings who lived in California, Washington, Hawaii and North Carolina.
She is survived by her three children, Nancy Houser of Cherry Tree, Richard D. Stockley of Wheeling, W.Va. and Brenda Pearce and husband Samuel of Indiana, Pa.; and her eight grandchildren, Stephanie Marshall, Ward Houser, Aaron Cidor, Melinda Mattox, Heather Frazier, Sara Grantz, Ryan Pearce and Dale Pearce. Affectionately known as "Grandma Great," she is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and her six great-great grandchildren; her sister, Eula Mae McMasters and husband Bogue of Franklin; her son-in-law, Pat Adams of Pittsville, Md. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; her daughters, Diana Cidor and Janice Adams; her son-in-law, Paul Houser; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Troy Cidor; her two great-granddaughters: Rosalyn and Marigold Grantz; her two brothers, George Fry, Jr. and Leland Fry; and her two sisters, Mildred Kime and Eileen Merrick.
Family and friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale. A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held following the viewing. Ministering will be Kermit and Renee Tuning. Private interment will take place at the Harmony Cemetery in Westover.
